Mekong Ventures is a venture capital company which makes direct investments in start-up business in Vietnam. We focus on companies at the pre-operational stage, including individuals who plan to establish their own business, or companies which have only recently commenced operations. The typical investment amount is approximately $400,000. Our investment strategy is to invest in companies in which the founders have exceptional management and leadership capability, and in industries with proven business models in Vietnam or similar countries Mekong Ventures is not a private equity firm and does not invest in well-established businesses. However, Mekong Ventures maintains strong relations with other investors who it can introduce as follow-on investors after its investee companies have become more well-established. Mekong Ventures was incorporated in Cayman Islands in July 2005. Mekong Ventures maintains a close partnership with Mekong Investment, a Vietnamese joint stock company, and the two companies normally co-invest together. Both companies have invested in the winning business plan from the first Thách Thức $20 Triệu contest. Mekong Investment is the organizer of the second Thách Thức $20 Triệu, and both companies plan to invest in the winner of the second Thách Thức $20 Triệu. |
